KENDRA SCOTT

From May to July of 2022, I served as the Graphic Design Intern for Kendra Scott at their home office in Austin, Texas. From October of 2022 to August 2023, I worked as a graphic designer under contract for Kendra Scott. I designed in-store signage, printed collateral, merchandise, and digital assets for an audience of 1.2 million+ followers and across 150+ stores. Additionally, I collaborated with senior designers to develop art direction for seasonal promotions and campaigns.

WORK CREATED FOR KENDRA SCOTT

ART DIRECTION

I collaborated with the Art Director at Kendra Scott to develop the art direction for Fall 1 (Back to School) 2022.

To kick off this process, I created mood boards to capture the energy that I wanted the visual identity to take on. I was particularly interested in motion, texture, and pattern.

I began by exploring the concept of pattern. I tried a few executions that felt younger, with bright colors and more school-related motifs. I also explored a more muted palette and a quilt-like composition that felt more elevated.

I then explored the more movement and texture-oriented aspects of the mood boards with these scribble executions. While I felt like these were a step in the right direction, they weren’t consistent or uniform enough to be easily applied throughout the necessary range of contexts and executions.

With this in mind, I developed more simplified and uniform digital assets that could be easily employed in various contexts. These assets ranged in theme from scribbles to patterns to sports gear to school supplies and more. My goal here was to maintain an exciting and upbeat feeling.

After touching base with the Art Director, we solidified a color palette and explored potential applications for smoother “scribble” graphic assets.

The finalized Fall 1 art direction that was utilized across all visual channels in 2022 can be seen below, as well as sample compositions of how it was executed.

MERCHANDISE

I collaborated on merchandise designs for special events and promotions. I designed merchandise for Kendra Scott’s tour to promote her book, Born To Shine, as well as for the Wrangler x Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott collaboration.

My initial conceptions for stickers, patches, cups, bandanas and more to promote the Born To Shine book tour are below.

Working with the Art Director, we refined one of the above text lockups to create the final graphic shown here.

Below is a selection of the merchandise that was sold on the tour utilizing the design we created.

PRINT WORK

My primary function as a contracted graphic designer at Kendra Scott was to support the print team. I designed in-store signage and print materials to be used year-round, as well as for specific promotions and collections.

Assets that I designed for Kendra Scott’s 2022 Stars & Stripes Sale. The assets consist of a window cling, exterior easel, and in-store signage.

Additionally, I designed an interactive spinner for this sale that was spun by customers to earn discounts in-stores.

I illustrated the coloring pages below featuring Kendra Scott products to be utilized for in-store events.

DIGITAL WORK

For the digital team, I designed instagram stories, posts, website assets, and paid ads.
